Your contrasts of of time taken to do various things brings to mind the 'process over product' idea (which Anne Lamott also illustrates so well in her book 'Bird by Bird' as some students at her creative writing class just wanted to know 'how do I get an agent'!)
In contrast to my dear Mum, who was so adept and quick at anything she did with her hands, I am slow. Not for any philosophical reasons I am just slow and for this reason sometimes the self critic on my shoulder tells me not to bother. I'm working on this.
So I'm going to have a go at yo-yos as I recently saw small ones used as cluster decorations on thrifted white tops and shirts to give them a second glory!
Sorry I couldn't find the photo/post but the pictures made me smile which I took as a nudge :-)
When I was going to make a yoyo bedspread. My spouse asked me if it would be warm, sturdy, and dog-friendly, and the answer was no on all counts so I shelved that idea. Now what to do with all of them? I’ve had them about 30 years.
I think if the time spent stitching did you good mentally/emotionally/physically it doesn't really matter if there is a point to it. From my POV totally worth it!
I totally agree! I’ve never spent 20 minutes making or stitching and wishesI hadn’t (as opposed to 20 minutes phone scrolling which can feel deeply pointless…)
Ohh that’s such a lovely idea! Thank you for the inspiration! (I have so many yarn, thread and tiny fabric scrap slivers that might lend themselves to giving the yo-yos some form for something like that. The wheels are turning.)
Such beautiful landscape work Janice.

I’ll be looking up Anne Lamont today - thank you! Let me know how you get on with the yo-yos sometime 😊
Totally time well stitched!!
I think so too!
Ah! Fuxico, a gossipy conversation! How delightful! I shall never think of of them as yo-yo's again...
Me neither!
I have -1,000 yo-yos stored from

I now know that that’s a lot of yo-yos!! Hours of stitching. I have seen some appliquéd rather than connected just to each other…perhaps they could be attached to an existing quilt or blanket? I’ve been thinking I might use them as edging

What about making the yo-yos into a garland? I wonder if they would hold their shape.
That’s such a great idea - I think I’ll play around with stacking them / threading a few together

Oh! So glad to hear that!
