Years ago I read a brilliant book called A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by ? Smith I think! It’s about a young girl growing up in pre First World War Brooklyn. She’d get to a point of ennui where nothing made her feel better, so she’d go to the pickle seller and buy a big pickled onion. She wouldn’t eat it exactly but sort of nibble on it for a day or so. The astringency of the pickle set her right again and life regained its zest. I hope your few days away has a good effect!
